So, who is Ulysses Zane? Let me tell you! (Warning: a copious number of gifs inside!)
Ulysses Zane is a disaster.
He falls in love too easily, smokes too much pot, is prone to outlandish fashion statements, and occasionally gets bizarre premonitions because he's a "double Scorpio, the most psychic of signs". In canon, this means he sees a recurring nightmare a man-sized lizard alien doing nasty things to someone, plus some other apocalyptic visions, all of which everyone around him disregards because obviously it's just stoner paranoia, right? (His nightmare ends up coming true, for what it's worth.) In Fandom, this may mean he might correctly predict an oncoming BDE (though in a frustratingly vague manner that's not helpful - or plot-breaky! - for anyone), oooor he might think he feels a BDE coming on when one's nowhere near on the horizon. Because... stoner paranoia.
No one's taking you seriously, Uly.
Ulysses tries to put up something of a cool and cynical air about himself, but don't be fooled: he's an intense romantic at heart and really just trying to find his true love somewhere out there. He falls hard and fast, and for the most part, for the wrong guys. He's adrift, and low-key anxious about it, and hoping to find someone who can help him find some semblance of calm.

In the meantime...
Physically, Ulysses is lanky and pretty thin young man of average height and of mixed race, with dark eyes and curly black hair and tan skin and a face that's honestly illegally pretty. And he has a beard-and-mustache thing happening that's probably slightly wispier still at this point than it is in his icons and the gifs presented here, but it's still already there.
Also he has the world's most adorably dorky, squinty grin.
Ulysses carries himself with ease and confidence, except when paranoia sets in, and he's generally pretty expressive and animated (if he's not particularly high, at least). He talks with his hands a fair bit. And his eyebrows, honestly.
Uly is played by Avan Jogia so yes, he looks like a hipster Hyacinthe. Except you will probably never be able to mix them up because look at all the shit Uly wears:

He's also a Kinsey 4, or thereabouts. So, hiiiii, boys, and also some select girls! His romantic interest is probably almost exclusively towards guys, but sleeping with ladies and appreciating sleeping with ladies is still a thing. He's probably also going to harbor a desperately unrequited crush or several on some of the fine teachers at the school because the pickings are slim in the student body and also making sensible emotional decisions has never really been his bag.

He also cares a lot about his friends, and doesn't actually hide that. He doesn't make friends easily, but he's clearly loyal to the people who make the cut, including being extremely protective of his canon BFF Ford who's a sunshine personified as a buff jock. He's also extremely snarky with his other canon BFF Carly, so expect that to be a thing once he gets comfortable with a person.
Basically, Ulysses is an artsy slacker, a conspiracy-minded stoner, and hoping to find his place in life. Or at least his person. Though in high school, his goals may be even less defined than that. He's drifting through life, and one day something will catch him.In the meantime...
